Default bombardier watercraft...help needed

I know this isn't a watercraft forum but i thought you guys would have some watercraft. My buddy has a seadoo with a seized engine and doesn't have time to fix it. I'd like to know what it would take and if it is a difficult of expensive job. I dont know what engine it has but he rode it without oil and it siezed. Thanks

sounds like a two stroke that lost a piston or two , could be worse if it got the crank.

Yea, sounded like a 2-stroke to me too. But he said he ran it without oil...meaning it could just aswell been a 4-banger. Rotax is starting to phase out the 2-smokes in their watercraft.

Could be anybody's bet.

I dunno if I'd say cheap & easy, though cheaper and easier than a comparable 4 stroke yeah. More than likely it is worth your time; however you may want to find some place to ask questions if you get stuck. A good local shop might help & if you really get in a bind you could always bring the whole thing in. Also you're likely going to need some machining work if anything is really trashed- that you won’t know until you tear it apart though.

Need more info. What size engine? 800 or 720. Also need to know the year.

A rebuilt engine is going to run about $1000 or so. Try SBT for a quote .SBT Engine Catalog

When you run these engines without oil it destroys the pistons, the cylinders, the head and the crankshaft assembly. Usually the counter balance and rotary valve will be OK.

I own sea-doo's and rebuild all my own engines. If your not familiar with those type of engine, buy a rebuilt one. There not anything like you've ever worked on and it does require special tools for disassembly

I would give PPG a call or check on www.sea-doo.net (owned and run by PPG).
