Default Kodiak/ Supertrapp IDS2 Question

I know I'm not supposed to post the same question multiple forums, but I haven't got any replies yet in Mods, so here goes...

I bought a used 02 Kodiak 400 this spring. It came with a Supertrapp IDS2 pipe. I want to take out some discs to quiet it down. What I'd like to do is make it as quiet as stock if possible. I do have the stock pipe to put on if I can't do this.

My question is, what size hex key is needed to remove the discs? I was able to get the end cap off, but none of my hex keys will fit the bolts holding the discs in. 3mm was too small, 4mm too big, and none of my "inch" sizes worked either. They aren't stamped with sizes so I may be missing the one that fits, but I doubt it. Is this a size unique to Supertrapp?

Also, what is the minimum number of discs I should run? I don't know how many are in there now, and I don't have a manual for the pipe. If anyone out there is familiar with this, I'd appreciate the advice.

Thanks for any input. BTW, I love the Kodiak. Just wish I had more time to ride it.

Dave

Default Kodiak/ Supertrapp IDS2 Question

There is a tool from Supertrapp that you get when you purchase the pipe. Since the owner before you bought the pipe and installed it, he either forgot about it or lost it. Either way you obvioussly need that tool to get the discs out. I'm not sure really when you can get one, from Supertrapp directly is probably youre best bet. Real nice of them to make the bolts a specific size isnt it?

Default Kodiak/ Supertrapp IDS2 Question

i had an ids2 on my old warrior, if u have the end cap off, next look in your tool kit the tool should be in there, but u can use regualr allen wreches forget wat size and whether they r standard or metric i know i used them first, cuz i didnt look in the tool kit, but if u want quiet take all the discs out and only put the end one one, and adjust from there, it can make it real quiet i thought, so i said heck with it and put the whole 18 or w.e discs in and let it roar! hope this helps..
