I want the low-down on something. What exactally is the difference in speed, power and durability between the top 4-strokes these days?? 400ex, LTZ400, KFX400, Raptor?? I know you can modify anything and make it bad, i'm talking stock here. Why are the Raptors so freakin cheap (used)? I want a fast dune atv!!

I would like to hear some opinions from people that have experience with these on the dunes!!

ok, here we go.......

400ex, no way..air-cooled, outperformed by LTZ/KFX

LTZ400 and KFX400 r actually same atv, Z comes in yellow or white made by zuki KFX comes in orange or green made by kawi

finally, Raptor is the King of the Dunes, my suggestion.......but it has the highest retail price, don't know why u called it "so freakin cheap?"

The only reason i called it cheap is because i find them all day long on atvtraderonline and ebay for around $3200! That's pretty cheap for such a new atv. I hear bad things about the 2001 models?? What's the problem with them?

 

o, u meant used......the '01 rappy's had bad tranny problems, just private message some1 with raptor in their name and they can probly tell u whats wrong w/ the '01 tranny

 

For dunes go with the Raptor all the way. No tranny problems on the 02's and up.[img]i/expressions/face-icon-small-cool.gif[/img]

 

For dunes I'd go banshee first, ds and raptor tied for second, z400 and kfx 3rd, and the 400ex last in these mentioned. The banshee is the fastest thing you can get with mods. The raptors and ds's are good stock and a lot better modded. The z400 and kfx I have heard work pretty well but them and the other 400's are probably a little underpowered for winning drag races. They'd all still be fun just to drive around on but at the dunes you're always going to find someone willing and ready to race.

 

I'm in the market for a 4 stroke only. As far as riding on the dunes, i want something fast and has a lot of torque for dune trails and pulling hills. I don't care to drag. I keep hearing bad things about raptors, but in here everyone seems to think they are the best for the dunes??

 

id consider the predator but im not aware of any problems and i know it doesnt have many problems in the power department[img]i/expressions/face-icon-small-wink.gif[/img].

just remember popularity is never a reasoning for quality.

Sheeeeeesh. I wouldn't take a banshee if you gave me one! I said i wanted to ge fast, i never said i had to be the fastest!! My 400ex keeps up with all the banshees in the trails and whoops, it's all about the quality of the rider, you can only go so fast in certain spots. I used to have a trick 89 250r that would eat any banshee alive. I sold it for a 4-stroke and i'll never go back to a 2!!
