Wider Belt Mod for P650
#1
Has anyone on this forum tried using a WIDER BELT on their P650 (perhaps using a belt from a P360 or V-Force 700)? I read on Nyroc's website that this mod was reportedly done to get an increase in top speed (reportedly up to 4 or 5 mph increase?).
To those who have actually done this mod, please tell me:
1) how much additional top speed did this achieve;
2) whether this mod causes any adverse effects, such as decreased low-end torque or premature pulley wear; and
3) whether this mod requires belt adjustments?

First off i haven't put a 360 belt on my 650 yet. But
1 people that have done this reported anywhere from 3-5 mph gain in top end speed.
2 Don't know about premature wear haven't heard anything bad yet.
3 Yes you will have to adjust your belt cuz it's gonna be way tight. (Not hard)
4 The second my 650 belt wears out you can bet i will be getting a 360 belt to replace it.

I'm running a 360 belt right now... I think I'd have run the 700 belt, but my local dealer didn't have one in stock when I destroyed my old 650 belt... the 360 belt is the same shape & size as the 650 belt, only a few mm wider... the 700 belt is reported to have wider sheeve contact because of a slightly different shape, & I believe it is the belt now used on the 700 Prairie...& is probably responsable for the 700 Prairies 2-3 mph higher top speed... I noticed about 3 -4 more mph top end, but it is not dramatic, as the CDI ramps up so slowly at the top end...Hope this helps...WAM

Newbeatle,
!) Did you have to readjust the belt tightness or remove/add shims to the clutch in order for the P360 belt to fit on your P650?
2) Also, have you noticed any difference in your low end power (i.e., less low-end torque)??
Thanx for your help on this!

MIKEYBOYESQ... I didn't notice any difference in torque ( just took 1st place in a local mud bog running my 28" Zilla's )( really sticky clay )... if your 650's belt is on the tight side, you'll need to add a shim, if your current belt is on the loose side, you my get by not needing to add a shim ( most 650's come a little on the loose side from Kawasaki )... on mine, I needed to put it together quickly for this mud race, & its a little on the loose side ??? I may have some of the cord from my destroyed 650 belt in the primary clutch ( I didn't pull that one apart yet ) Hope this helps...WAM

I don't know, but would suspect that it is somewhat different, as it uses the V - Force belt... springs or weights ??? maybe one of the guys that pours over all the part numbers would have an answer to that one...WAM

650 belt number is 59011-1080 Pra. 700 belt number is 59011-0003 same as V-force.........the the primary spring for the 650 is 92145-1293 the 700 is 92145-0021 same as the v-force.......the secondary spring's are the same and as far as i can tell the rest of the clutch set-up is the same between the two.......
