Is a lift kit really a safe thing to add to my quad?
#1
I am really concerned with the addition of a lift kit. I want 27" Mud Bugs all the way 'round, so I'll have to have a lift. But, since I've heard all these horror stories about U-joints busting, is it because of homemade rigs or from bought rigs? Is the Highlifter lift okay? Or the Moose lift kit? Please list any information you have about the subject!

I have a SP500 with 27" BI-CLAW TRI-CLAW combination,2" lift on the front Haven' broke yet. Gene's polaris 1-800-544-0694 sells an aluminum lift machined to keep the spring from moving around like hi lifters do.Rick At Gene's Can answer your question a lot better they probably sell or build more lifted quads than any one I know of.

I spoke with High Lifter about that very thing. I also have not bought a lift kit yet either. The guy told me for example. Just tossing out a no. if your front suspension was designed to last 5 years. with the addition of a lift kit, the front end would break down in 4 years. there is extra strain on the tie rod ends and joints. I was thinking that since polaris has a current reputation for weak tie rods, maybe it would be a good idea to get them replaced first then put on the lift kit. You could go with either a 2 inch or 4 inch lift kit. If we broke down in the woods with this set up would we be able to get out of the woods or need a tow?? ps: those mud bugs are fantastic tires. I have the 26 inchers. I like them......... rangerchet year 2000 polaris xpedition 425 cc 5-speed.
