l just purchased a 230 quad for $100 bucks. Had bad motor in it, so l got to thinking. l found a suzuki rm250 with a bad frame, but good motor. Thought 1, will it work. Thought 2, how to do it, and Thought 3, get it done. l now have a 87' LT230 with a rm 250 2 stroke motor, talk about fast. The only problem l had was the exhaust pipe, little heat, no problem. And where to mount the radiators, took a lot of thinking.
Anyway the end result is, don't be afraid to imagine the possibilitys.

thanks, now l think l ran into a problem. l mounted the radiators lower than the motor, and now it gets hotter than before. Do the radiators have to be mounted above the engine, like on the dirtbike?

 

Just wondering if anybody can tell me weither the radiators have to mounted above the engine. Having a problem with motor running hot and shuting down. l took the motor off a rm 250 dirtbike and put it in my suzuki 230 4 wheeler, but mounted the radiators, not up and down, but kinda side to side. Like on a 45 degree angle, but the hoses have to travel uphill to the motor. Don't know if that's my overheating problem, any feedback would be great, thanks.

and what were you thinking mounting the radiators like that? how is air going to flow through them like that? arg.

 

Not that l purposely did that, just temporary to test drive. This is the first time l've ever done this, so l don't think l did too bad. Trying to build a toy to ride, and have fun. And l don't have ant vibration, what did you mean by that?

 

You have to mount them slightly above the motor so the coolant flows properly. I ran in to that pfoblem with a CR500 motor on a LT frame I just finished. Fast is for sissys. If it had wings you could fly
