Has anyone ever shipped a quad out of home state to another area of the country to explore with their OWN machine? Want to goto Montana for some real riding but live in N.J. I don't want to rent a machine. Whats the cheapest way, with the least amount of problems?

A few months off work, and a trail from NJ to Montana would be the ideal way to get it there!

No suggestions on shipping. Personally I love road trips so I would trailer it.

I found a retired welder to make me a trailer. It holds all 3 of my ATV's plus a truck tool box across the front for 'stuff' It wasn't that expensive, plus you can take a friend or two and go year after year.

I would think the only cost effective option would be to tow the machine yourself. I would not imagine that UPS or anybody like that would even touch it with gas and oil in it. I doubt you would want to know how much a trucking company would charge you to deliver it. Try to find a used trailer and roadtrip it.
