I have narrowed my choice in atv's to either the grizzly or the kodiak. I will be doing mostly trail and mud riding, plus a little work. I don't know if the grzzly is overkill for me or not. I like the idea of having the biggest displacement 4x4 on the market. What has anyone else's experiences with these quads been.

My good friend has a Griz, I have a Kodiak. Riding his Griz is like putting a seat and handlebars on a Jeep. Agile is nowhere in the description of a Griz. I would have no problem with one if I owned a big farm, but I dont. The Kodiak tackles hills and trails with ease, and the stearing is easy and tight. Don't get the impression I'm cracking on the Griz, I'm not. It just doesn't seem like it would be your best choice for what you described you would be using it for.

i have to agree with quadfather
the grizzly will be overkill for you if you are wanting to ride trails.
i have a 2000 2wd kodiak and it just eats trails alive!
very sporty for a utility.
unless you just want to be able to say you have a 600 cc quad when somebody asked and want to pay alot more money than you need to, go with the griz, if not save yourself alot of money and buy the kodiak, you will love it!!!!

I've got a Grizzly and like it alot,it is a big quad,I could get away with the Kodiak. The nice thing about the Kodiak is it's a little smaller and you can throw it around a little easier.Neither lack power, both are durable.

The Grizzly has all the power you will ever need and then more.

The Kodiak has plenty of power but handles very good. Also, feels "sportier" than the Grizzly.

Both are good choices

I own both quads i ride the grizz and my wife rides the kodiak. The size comparison between the 2 is really irelavant the grizzly's wheelbase and track are only like 1 inch more then the kodiaks.
But the grizz is like 3" taller and that makes it look alot larger. I have only encounterd 1 spot on a trail that i couldent get it through and that was because i wasent willing to scratch my fenders. The kodiak seems to run smoother but i think that is because of the smaller engine. The Kodiak seems to have better rear brakes due im shure to the fact that they are disc. Handeling on the 2 seems to be about the same. If you put the 2 side by side and raced it would be very close to about 30mph. But if you are crusing down a trail at like 15 mph and punch it the grizz will leave the kodiak well behind. On slow technical trails they both perform the same. The kodiak has a much better choke setup. The Grizz sounds WAYYYY meaner. I personaly prefer the air cooling it will mean less to service down the road. It is a tough choice to make
