I recentally purchased a 2000 500 Polaris Scramber 4x4. I am wanting to increase my overall topend speed and acceleration. After looking around at clutch kits, pipes, and ect... I am completly lost on what to get. Does anyone have any suggestions of what would be the best to go with. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Ryan
How deep are your pockets???
Unless you want 2 wheel drive only, no matter what you spend you wont gain to much top end because of the shaft drive. If the engine breaths better you can get more rpm which will effect top end how much dont know.
Through various places HPD, RCR, Hot Seat etc... You can get for the 500;
Better flowing air filter
42mm carb
Higher comp. piston
Bigger cam
Port & Polish the head
Performance Exhausts
Clutch Kits
Numerous suspension up grades

You could easily spend another $5000 in hop up goodies. I am sure other members will tell you of their mods and how much improvment they made.
You can go as fast as your credit cards will take you.
As for me my engine has a K&N air filter other wise it is still stock. Good Luck

I'm not sure what easteregg means about shaft drive and 2 wheel drive only? A clutch kit would help. Most of the pipes for the sc500 don't do much, especially for the top end. Some actually take away from your top end. You could pour a ton of money into the 500, and not get much more performance. It runs pretty strong in stock form. Get a clutch kit, better filter, and some good tires and lighter wheels.

Maybe I should have been clearer on that point. If you make a lot of modifications you can not change the gear ratio to take advantage of the top end power gain because of the shaft drive in the front. Because the rear is chain drive you could change gearing like a typical sport/racing quad however you could not engage the awd as this may tear things up.
He was looking to increase top speed.

I'm in the same boat as you, I have been looking high and low to find a clutch kit for my 500 with no luck..Does any body out there have a webb address to a clutch manufacture that makes a good clutch upgrade for a scrambler 500?

I'v talked to a few people that have heavily heavily modded scrambler 500's, one guy had a turbo charger and efi, u can get that for around 4,800, GP engineering out of garden city, kansas makes it. Its supposed to make the 500 really really fast.

There was another guy i talked to that owned a small 4-stroke racing store and he had a 500 that he himslef ported and polished the head, got a high compression piston, made his own silencer, it was fuel injected, hpd aggresive clutch kit, and alot of other stuff but i can't remember, he said he races local hare scrambles and he's won 3 of the last 4 and 1 of them he won was against dirt bikes.

So i think the potentialis there, its just that most places like HPD, Aeen, don't wanna spend money making mods for the scrambler 500, when they can make more profit with the 400.

But if i were u, i'd get a HPD pipe and aggresive clutch kit, maybe a 42mm carb, k&n power up kit, Aeen steering dampner, and a set of Holeshot XCT's. This should make ur scrambler quite a bit faster.

Know matter how much cash you spend the scrambler will never be the fastest quad on the block. This is something you have to ask yourself before you shell out the big bucks. My sugestion is to forget about speed, slap on some real tires, and get that bad boy dirty like it wants to be!---Leave em stuck behind---- 00 SC500
