help with cutting out on landings....
#1
my 03 raptor is bone stock, ridden for maybe 10 hours or so and it sems to bog down and/or cut out when i land off jumps. it lasts for about a second or two. then once i give it gas it gets right back up. it even died once but then started right back up because i was going down hill. seems like maybe the floats need to be adjusted or something. any help is appreciated.

My guess it's the nature of the carb slide operation. They have vaccum operated slides and I'll bet gravity is letting them bounce closed for a second on the landing regardless of throttle position. I've heard of similar bogging in whoops due to this "slide bouncing" effect.
Could be wrong - anybody else ?

Same kinda problem with mine. I have also heard that it's the carb slides slamming shut on hard landings. I haven't tried yet but I hear that if you're on the throttle good on the landing it can help keep it from doing this. Just a thought.
Hope this helps!

Blackwidow is right, if you are not landing on the gas, you should be. It will extend the rear shock creating less chance of bottoming out on the landing! (not neccessary if you are downsiding a jump)
Also less chance of stalling if you are in the wrong gear. It sounds like you may be lauching in the wrong gear

On landing with throttle on .. you want to be careful .. from all i've heard the Raptor pops up in front very very easily and from my own experiences on the Warrior, which is notably front heavy, if you're on the throttle when the rear tires come down you are probably going to be into a wheelie depending on how you land ... my Warrior flipped me off once after a jump ..

Its best to blimp the throttle as you land, keeping the revs up. Also landing on the gas means you wont loose time during the transition form air to ground. You will only weelie if you are landing on a flat suface.

Glad to see some good advice, like mcfly said blip the throttle on the landing, it save you from the rough landing ,it's the best advice to someone jumping in the dunes too, just keep the revs up and dont hit jumps in 4th or 5th,unless your pinned going like 50mph....
It takes practice when jumping and i do it over and over again, the blipping of the throttle is very nessesary for good jumping, and dont worry about the front coming it's not that powerful if you can control it.lol

Let all the good tricks out why dont ya
I like watching people crater into the ground when they should land soft and on the gas
Check your float level on the carbs and make sure your breather vents arn't pinched

thanks fellas. i will try to blip the throttle on landing. i found out after a very short time that blipping is a very good thing, especially when you want to keep the quad off of your back on decent sized jumps
