..tell me if it is ok.. (noob questions)

I love my new DS. It is very powerful compared to my previous quad ('86 fourtrax 250 utility model). And it looks and handles awesome too!! Only got 3 hours on it, wish I had more time to ride. There is 2 things my machine is doing that I wonder if it is normal. My machine starts, idles, and from low to full throttle position seems to run smooth. However, if I punch the throttle from a low setting to full, my machine hesitates for a split second before accelerating like a son of bitc...lol The response is not instant Also, while at the full throttle position, if I just totally let go of the throttle, there is some noises. Kinda sounds like the engine is not getting enough fuel. This is normal throttle response and my carb sounds like it is adjusted correctly? Being from the world of shaft drive, I don't know much about chain drive. My chain play is adjusted correctly. I think my chain is making some some-what abnormal noises sometimes. When I corner hard or accelerate fast, (sometimes) there is a noise. Sometimes when I just putt around it makes it too. It is hard to describe, kinda like a rattling, quiet clicking and rubbing agaist something noise ..lol .. but louder than the normal chain noise. I looked to see if in fact the chain is rubbing against something it shouldn't be, but I don't see any abnormal wear on anything. Do you know what this noise is? A bunch of noob questions for ya'all ..lol

My DS makes a lot of chain noise so I wouldn't worry about that unless you start hearing it get worse. Make sure you lube the chain every ride. I also have to grease my a-arm and swingarm bushings before every ride. The manual only says every 25 hrs., but doing that I had to replace my a-arm bushings after the first 40 hrs. If the '04's are like my '03 they are lean from the factory. If you can find a good mechanic that has a exhaust gas analyzer have it checked. I spent 80 dollars to have mine jetted using one and it is hands down the smoothest acceleration from idle to full throttle of any quad I have ridden. Just remember you can never do enough maintenance. Hope this helps.

Check your chain when your sitting on it too make sure its not to tight. Also could be chain roller. The other sounds like a slight carb problem. Jetting could be off a little. Could be needle adj. Thats not a normal characteristic or a DS.
