new pics, my quad
#1
I finally put up some pics of my DS, with a few of the pictures promised in some previous forum topics.
Some of the detailed mods that I had to do close-ups on didn't run out well at all, so more will come later that were requested, lilke the weephole hose barb and the oil tank drain valve.
Enjoy!

Man, my DS is ugly.. You guys have nice looking ones.. Mine is the trail beater Frame nics, scratched plastics. Baked on mud & slop.. I took all those parts stickers off, they looked cheasy after a bit.. I wanted it to look like a GNCC setup.. But it sucks.

Thanks everybody, you're too kind, thanks alot.
Mud your bike is not ugly, its stock colors which I have always liked. I ride pretty much the same stuff as you most of the time - gncc style trails - and get plenty muddy. that's one of the reasons she's stripped down to bare essentials, no heelguards, trimmed fenders, etc., much easier to clean and maintain, but its still hard work sometimes. And I only get to ride hard once a month on good trails 'cause my work schedule so it has less than 300 hours on it.
yes DCryder, one of the reasons I went that route. tach visibility is a little better, not much but a little, cause the riser kit brings the clamp up almost as high as the old crossbar was. the bar bend is what I really like. its my 3rd pair but I finally hit the jackpot. they are Trailtech bars and clamp riser kit.

hey that new head liight set up would look good on your bike you might even do that trim piece in red, just my thought on the looks. i think i'm going to give into the trimmed fenders.

I like the new twin beam, been planning on getting it, especailly after hearing your report on it. don't know if the trim comes in red, but I'll sure ask the dealer.
hey if you trim the fenders the stock heelguard frame material is ideal for making the fender supports, that's what I used, its some really hard and strong stuff, you gotta bend it with a hammer and vise.

Sweet looking quad! I love the red offsetting the yellow.... Is that a IMS tank or did you just paint the tank plastic?? And I love the way you set up the rear fenders! Did it affect mud protection any?? I might go that route if it doesn't worsen the shielding from the muck...
And why do you have a pic of your choke ****?? Is it special ?

Its the viper red tank cover from the dealer that comes on the new ds's, $60.
you get a little more mud on you with them cut, being less coverage and all. and the lack of heelguards leave the boots messier too. but eventually I get totally filthy anyway, and this way the quad doesn't have to carry all those adobe bricks around half the day. its shakes off the boots and clothes as you go along the trail.
the carb pics are more for the raptor guys - showing off the ease of access and jetting - those poor guys got it bad.
its common for chokes from the stock carb to be installed on the tm's, they interchange, but its difficult to reach it up under the seat so its showing those guys how sweet it can be for another $12 spent at RWR for the cable kit w/ bracket.
each pic has something in it to answer a question somebody had sometime or another, as I've gotten a lot from other guys pics myself.
