If you're the boss @ Honda, you can get anything you want designed/built in a real hurry. I'll bet all the tooling and everything can be in place to start moving these machines off the line, but again, given the circumstances I'd rather have a thought out machine that a reactionary one - unless of course it spanks the YFZ. I'm happy w/ my (2) blue purchases - fast, slow or mid-pack.

I'm pretty sure that Honda thought this one out well. Honda's are known for dependability and will test and test until it's right. Yamaha on the other hand are whipping machines out left and right and letting the consumer do the testing for them ('01 Raptor Transmission). Yamaha getting the YZF out before the TRX is a marketing scheme that makes Honda look like a follower and to make sales that Honda would have gotten if they came out first. The fact is Honda has been working on this machine for awhile and wants to make it right. Anyone that owns a Honda car or motorcycle/atv knows how reliable they are. As far as Honda looking like the others..how many different designs can a company make with plastic? If you ask me, all the sport atv's kinda look the same, but it's whats inside that counts. I think that Yamaha make good machines and their selection is unmatched, but when I think about dependability/quality, Honda comes to mind. The bottom line is ride what you like.

Dude, wait a minute. I agree it's been a long time since Honda has
gotten back in the game. Yammi has been ripin' out some nice rides
while Honda's been making lawn mowers.
BUT.
There is something to be said for letting the competition take their
best shot and then droping the hammer.
We'll just have to see. We can't brag about something that doesn't
exist yet!

PudJumper...i disagree. What does the Raptor resemble? what does the DS resemble? what do the Cannondales look like? what about the predator? Their all unique looking...now, as far as the other guys playing catch-up...Suz/Kawi...resembles the raptor.
as far as Yamaha releasing the YFZ as a marketing scheme to steal Honda's thunder...thats just you speaking like a true Honda fan. you can't possibly think Yamaha just slap that quad together. look at the sub-Frame(designed to keep heat away from the airbox using Yamahas exclusive CF Casting Method), swingarm (Hollow cast aluminum..with anti-squat bend) and the other sure signs that yamaha's thought this one through...Chain adjuster "new" and airbox/filter. Anyone who know anything about Yamaha's knows this is where they normaly drop the ball when it comes to putting in thoughts on new and old quads.
Nope...when it comes to quads. Yamaha takes the risks and puts there neck out there for us. The fact that they still make 2 strokes is proof positive. they march to the beat of there own drum.
now speaking of rushing...who's that releasing Cartoons? I'm sure it will be a great quad. but don't be surprised when Honda releases a 450 with reverse that is NOT race ready. they are notorious for playing it safe. even if it means cutting off their nose to spite their face. (2 strokes)
