Default subwoofer question (visonik)

this is a stupid question I know but would two different 12" subs hit the same if they were the same watts or does it depend on the brand, also would a 10" sub hit harder if it has more watts than a 12".

Also how good are visonik subs because I am thinking about buying some 12" visoniks from a boy who has to pay another boy and don't have the money. He is going to sell two of them for $115 is this a good deal or are they even worth it. He said that they hit so hard that it made his amp cover come off. so please help me on this if you can. thanks.

It does have to do with the watts, but mostly the brand you use.

I dont know much about visonic, all i run is kicker. i have 2 15'' square subs(l7's), running on 3000watts of kicker amps.

That price is about right, you can find them cheaper on ebay.

Default subwoofer question (visonik)

It depends on the brand. There are many technical differences between two brands of speakers, such as, VAS (volume acoustic suspension), Fs (frequency at which a naturally resonates at in free air), Qts (a speaker with a higher Q is more resonant than one with a low Q), Xmax (speaker's maximum excursion in one direction). Also different speakers require different box volumes and port legnths. One of the most noticeable differences between two speakers would be the sensitivity, a speaker with a higher sensitivity will play louder than one with a lower speaker given the same wattage. Anytime you purchase amps or speakers, always look at the sensitivity rating and try to ge the highest one that you can afford because that will make a huge difference in how loud it will play. There are too many differences to say whether a 10 will hit harder than a 12, but just because it is rated at more watts, it will never be louder. The watts is only the rating at which the speaker can handle not what it will put out at the same wattage as a lower rated speaker. The best way to make a speaker perform at its maximum is to match it with an amp that is rated closely to the wattage of the sub. For example if you have a sub that has a maximum wattage of 400 watts, then you will want an amp that will put out 400 watts per channel or as close as that as you could get. I have never listened to Visonik subs, but at looking at the parameters for the speakers they appear to have good specs, they should sound as good as many other brands, but the only thing I didn't like with the Visonik subs specifications were that they need a pretty big box to be in a ported box to sound good. For $115, then yes they are probably worth it. The subs should not make an amp cover come off and I don't believe that unless he has a cheap butt amp that the cover is loose on or has chewing gum holding it together. I think the first and main thing you should look at is how much room you have for a box and whether you want it ported or sealed and then decide whether that is the sub for you or not. Check out www.thezeb.com for some really good prices on many speakers, amps, etc. They have the lowest price on the web and I have bought many things from them. I hope the technical crap that I wrote above helps you a little and doesn't confuse you. Here is a website that will answer almost any question you have about speakers, electronics, etc. Car Audio Hope this helps.

I wont go into details about the subs and amps because it seems your question has already been answered.
I will, however, offer my input on the place to get the stuff from. I only buy from www.cbrstereo.com In the past 4 or 5 years, Ive gone through about 7 different systems and system changes in two different vehicles. Ive bought a total of about 15 subs, 6 component systems, 5 amps, and lots of other misc equipment. They have always answered my questions and emails within 30min and they have never done me wrong. And of all the equipment, the only problem I ever had(other than a few wiring q's) was a sub that was about to blow. But that was after I used it for about 2 years and it had been through 3 different system changes.
The only brand I trust is Rockford Fosgate. Never had any problems and they always exceed my expectations. As for Visonik, I dont recall ever hearing anything bad about them. I think it would be a safe investment.

Default subwoofer question (visonik)

Visonik is not the best... but i do SQ... im not all about bass, but 80% of ur loudness/quality/bass comes from ur box. i usually run 10's but for all out bass i would do 12's. for $115 u can get a good Fosgate 12" and hit harder with the right box...

BTW im running 2 Image Dynamics IDMax V3 12" and 2400 watts of ARC Amps.
