yfz450 for me?

Don't own one but have rode one. I'm 6'2 and it didn't feel cramped at all to me. I weigh about 175 and the suspension was stiff for just cruising around, but you might be the right weight to make it somewhat plush on the trail. Maybe letting the compression all the way out might help more. Not sure.

all i can say is that if by jumping, you mean JUMPING!, then the yfz is most definately for you, but it wouldnt be as much fun for trails, it wants to go go go! (but it would be better for trails than a banshee or anything that peppy)

I spent all of yesterday riding my YFZ with 3 other raptors in the Black River Falls area of WS. We rode a documented 80 miles through every type of trail riding experience you can imagine. The YFZ was fantastic and fuel consumption was almost identical to the Rappys... The ability to have a huge range of suspension adjustments is clearly a benefit because you can tune the suspension for the application.. ie.. mx track and big air just crank the compression and rebound up to full firm... trail riding.. soften it up as much as you want dependant on your weight.. ground clearance is similar to the rappys. In stock configuration,, your quiet and stealth to those neighbors of the trails and won't cause a irrantant in their ear.... The only negatives I've found is that in some remote locations, 91 octane can be scarce, which is the minimum octane for the YFZ... also for tall riders a high rise bar would be more comfortable depending on your own personal ergonomics..

All the people that tell you the YFZ is made specifically for this or that can be misleading... I know I debated on a Raptor or YFZ for too long because of it. I got the YFZ and there isn't anything you can't do and excel with it. The YFZ is awesome in trails... just because Yamaha wanted to make an awesome MX 4 wheeler doesn't mean thats all it can do.
In my experience the suspension is NOT too stiff and the seat is not too hard... I got to ride a Banshee yesterday for the first time and I thought it's 4 inch super soft seat was more uncomfortable than the highly supportive thin seat on the YFZ. I've complained about the heat that builds from the YFZ's header but its only an issue if you aren't wearing riding boots... so if by saying the YFZ is not meant for trails then you could be right if you like to ride the trails in your swimming suit.
I've ridden 4 wheelers with reverse and now without and I haven't skipped a beat... you just to always remember you don't have reverse and it doesn't become an issue.
Those are the only knocks I've ever heard about the YFZ... and they are all the stuff of urban legend to me now that I own one.
