I have a 01 Raptor that has been acting up lately. I have minor mods, slip on pipe and jet kit. The starter is spinning just fine but not engauging. I have heard this is a common problem with the 01's. If anybody can help in telling me which parts I need to solve this I would greatly apprciate it.

 

same here, it makes this clicking noise, my dad thinks its compression, but i know it isnt, and he doesnt believe me that the tranny is screwy either, i want a 2004 so bad

 

Sounds like the one-way starter bearing is bad, there is an aftermarket one made by L&A designs thats 10X better than stock available at www.ripperracing.com and more information at www.raptortranny.com

Its the same gear one-way on all raptors, they havent changed it and its somewhat of a common problem on all raptors.

 

warrior007 hit it guys your one-way bearing is bad(or soon to go). Mine went out about a month ago. It would start sometimes, and then sometimes I just heard the starter motor spinning its happy a#$ off. Finally it wouldn't start at all. The starter would just spin. This is a trade mark problem with the raptors. Its gonna set you back about $200, but after that your problem is solved. Plus it has a one yr. warranty.
