I was browsing thru my new DW mag and was reading the article on the Sabine River ride (some of you guys are here, right?). Anyways, on pages 76-8 (?) there was some pics of a big ol' long nasty hole with some riders going thru it. Now, look at the pic's closely and tell me if you see what I saw.... where the helmets photochopped onto those riders? The riders are awfully dirty and the helmets were clean.

On page 78 (I think) there is a pic of a guy with a white/red helmet on, looks chopped. The picture below it is of another guy, with the SAME helmet and in almost the same position!

I love DW Mag, and I know they have a policy that says your picture can't be shown unless you have a helmet, but come on... does chopping a helmet onto the rider after the fact really promote safety?

btw, I could have done a better chop then that... all they needed to do was add a little distortion. The helmets were too bright compared to the background etc.

 

haha I just looked that now. That is totaly noticable, but i guess whatever it takes to get the shot in. But them people were pretty stupid for not wearin a lid.

 

It does look a little odd. If you look on page 78 in the top left picture. It shows about four atv's in the mud. If you look way back there is a guy with a light colored shirt and NO helmet. (Unless it's a really tiny helmet.)

 

It's no different than the ATVA........."We believe in helmet use.......but (by God!) we'll never lose 'a dollar' (member) over making a big deal over it!....."

It just goes to show you that 'a buck' is always more important than "an ideal" which might keep you from making it [img]i/expressions/face-icon-small-wink.gif[/img]............these riders are now showing all their friends how this 'helmet' mysteriously appeared upon their heads in this mag..........do you think they all just laughed 'harder' at the concept of a lid(?) or did everybody who saw the picture tell him how stupid he was for not wearing one?

It makes the whole concept "a joke".........."We want you to wear helmets......but, if you "don't"'(?)....we'll take care of it and reward you anyways with your picture in our mag............ [img]i/expressions/face-icon-small-sad.gif[/img]

 

Well i will have to take a look at that tomarrow in school on my first day.LOL o well i probley wont have nothing to do....

 

I noticed one particular pic of a kid in a mud hole that looked f'ed up.

 

I read in an Dirt Wheels issue several years ago that their policy is......... any photos that show riders with no helmet will receive on of their helmet make-overs. They feel everyone should wear a helmet.

 

what DW's are you talking about i have the september one right in front of me and on those pages have the yfz and the nitrous predtor?

Don't you think this is getting a little out of hand? I mean how early can you release magazines? How about releasing the October issue at the end of September, that sounds like a good idea. I think these magazines should just release new issues every 2 weeks, they seem to be greedy bastards so why not?
