Default Mid to top end hesitation on my raptor

Just changed the spark plug, cleaned the air filter, drained fuel tank and carbs and refilled with 93 octaine.
Same hesitation. When Im half throttle crusing, if I give it full throttle or any more throttle it will drop off or hesitate a
second then take off. That hesitation is very upseting.
This happens all the time except when Im racing through the gears, then its fine.
What the ???? is this Raptors problem? Someone please help.

ck. your carb boots ...if that isnt it might have to set your air screws ...first try running it with your air box lid off if it runs better than it possiable your air screws need adjusted make sure your ideling is correct also ..and take a plug reading..... i wouldnt recommend running it with air box lid off permanantly..

its possiable ..but those carbs are a bitch to get off so you want to do process of elimination ....try other things before you take the carbs off ...then if that doesnt work then you might have to pull the carbs....

Have you changed anything lately? Did it just start when you changed the plug, cleaned the filter, and drain the fuel?

It shouldn't be the fuel screws at that high or a rpm range.

I was running all stock jetting with an R4 slip-on, pro design foam filter and just the snorkle removed and had the exact same problem you have. I just put on a GYTR jet kit and removed the air box lid. It screams now. From my experience, if you just add a slip-on and run stock jetting you should be ok, but if you do any more mods like air filter or airbox, you are going to have to re-jet or you are just throwing your power away.

Thanks for the great replys.
This hesitation has been for sometime now and I just thought changing these various items would help.
The Raptor is a 2002 model and has never been modified, adjusted, or tampered with.
The carbs have never been touched, never been off.
I ride nearly once a month For 3 hours at a time and I don't beat on it.
Please let me know what you think. Thank fellas.

If you only ride once a month, and don't drain the gas every time, UI would guess something in the carbs has gummed up from gas sitting in them. It could be a case of over oilling the filter though. It seems like these would be more of a constant problem, not just at half throttle stabs to the gas.

I would clean the carbs out real well and make sure the air filter wasn't over oilled.

When was the last time you adjusted the valves?
