I ride my 2001 scrambler 500 4x4 in altitudes over 5000 feet and as high as 8000 feet
I ride hard and fast making my own trails where I cannot find any. I have been a KX 250 rider for over 20 years and have since mellowed out to ATV’s starting in 2001. With over 300 hours per summer in harsh terrain, I would say I am a fanatic when it comes to ATVing. I have worn out hubs, Swing arms steering columns, countless tires, axels, chains, starters, solenoids new plastic you name it I have changed it. I have always bought stock parts thinking I might just sell it after the next ride and buy new one but I love my scrambler and I love where it takes me. As our summer season whines down I want to upgrade my scrambler, can you anyone recommend some ideals. I was thinking of this kit to start form hot seat is the price right? It seems a bit high to me.

Biggest lesson I learned do not put bear claw tires on the rear of a scrambler. Carry a GPS, plenty of gas and extra belts!

I have the HPD Powermaxx exhaust and Aggressive clutch kit and really like them. It will wheelie a lot easier and the pipe adds more low and mid range power. Plus the HPD exhaust is nickel plated with an aluminum silencer, where as the Hot Seat pipe is just black paint. The Hot Seat kit is what, $550?? The HPD exhaust is $305, the clutch kit is $155. Thats $460 so far. Get a K&N filter for $35 with an Outerwears for $10 from Rocky MT ATV. That is a total of $505 compared to Hot Seats $550. So, for $45 less, you get a better performing exhaust that looks a lot better too. Just my $.02. Oh, when you order, tell them what elevation you ride at. That will make a difference on the jet that they send and the clutch settings

i have a question for you . (Biggest lesson I learned do not put bear claw tires on the rear of a scrambler ) why !

 

I wore out both my hubs twice and one axel[img]i/expressions/face-icon-small-disgusted.gif[/img]. I found that scrambles really likes to spin the back tires. Bear claws grip a little too much burning out belts and above. There has to be some give somewhere better off having your tires spin out. Having said that, there were only a few mud holes the bear claws could not get me out of. But it coast me $$$
