Default HPD, HSP, AAEN, or RCR

Now im a big Hot Seat fan but I dont see whats so special about HPD. Ive noticed a lot of HSP to be cheaper, but not by a lot. Im also very happy with the HP gains out of my 400. 64 to be exact. HPD seems to be all about porting. Which to me aint all important, although I got mine ported with the exterminator kit. RcR has pretty good prices but not a lot of stuff. I see RCR has a package deal that is really cheap but there pipes only cover a certain powerband range? AAEN's stuff seems to be more expensive than HSP's and its all the same, basically. HPD's stuff can make a lot of HP, and I really like the looks of the Trail mod Kit for the 400, Has anybody ever had expierence with this kit or dragged a HSP quad with the same stuff? That would be neat....

HPD is not only tops in porting, but their 400 pipes are top notch. Both Hot Seat and HPD have treated myself and others very well. When it comes to the 400 trail gear, their both great, but for the race-mod, the HPD ATV8 pipe is "on" all the time, no dead spots. Hot Seat really accels in the suspension gear for the 400, and now the Predator too. RCR has great bang for the buck in the trail mod arena.

I have personally run almost every pipe for a polaris, and the Trail pipe from HPD is tops in all around performance with a nice big end gain. And yes, THE PORTING IS WHAT SEPERATES THE MEN FROM THE BOYS ON THESE MACHINES. HPD gets those numbers all day long with their trail mod kit, but then you can always step up even further. I have nothing at all against Hot Seat, just my views and opinions,Bubba

I have actually found Hot Seat to more expensive then HPD.

Hot Seat HPD

Pipe 219.00 Pipe 205.00
Clutch Kit 189.00 Clutch Kit 154.95
Billet Head 249.00 Billet Head 229.95
Shift Weights 69.00 (Set) Shift Weights 45.00 (Set)
Primary Springs 27.95 Primary Springs 19.99 (Most)
Helix 79.95 Helix 69.95

These are just a few examples. There are I'm sure some things more expensive at HPD I have just yet to find it for my application. I'm sure that Hot Seat sells quality products I'm just not sold that they are cheaper.

I've had a couple of Hotseat experiences...... We tried several versions of their Scram 500 HO pipes. The first version we tried lost power. The next 3 the shop tried worked okay, but continued to melt the plastic.

The other is when I purchase a 38TMX for my Scram 400. The stock throttle cable wouldn't open the carb all the way. The shop called them...... They said it didn't matter..... Right......

Needless to say, everything else I tried was from HPD and AAEN. No complaints whatsoever.

Will they ever have the ***** to do an HPD, Hotleg, AAEN shootout?

I HAVE THE HSP STAGE 1 KIT. I AM VERRY UNHAPPY WITH THE SERVICE AND THE RESULTS I HAVE GOTTEN WITH THEM. THE KIDS THAT WORK AT HSP ARE NOT VERRY BRIGHT.I HAVE SPENT ALOT OF MONEY AT HSP AND WILLNOT SPEND ANY MORE. HSP IS NOT THE WAY TO GO

RCR's porting and pipe pkgs are second to nobody on the 400 motor. I have used his race mod cyl with both his own out of frame drag pipe, and hpd's rp8 pipe. Both are excellent drag pipes. Hpd's is in frame and more suitable for some. An RCR race port is a lot of fun with proper jetting and clutching.I leave on my electric start and reverse to make it more fun. Pull up in the hot pits where everyone is lined up with the race mod banshees, making sure you use the reverse now and then to show that it is just "an old single cyl Scrammbler"going pop,pop when it idles.
We have a race mod banshee as well. On certain tracks(excellent traction )the scramm will win, other olaces the shee will win. Sometimes they get in the final together. The part that cracks me up is that if the shee wins, everyone comes over and says "man ..that thing rocks!" ,..........but if the scram takes out all those banshees.....they come over with curled up noses and say.."there's no way that @#$% old polaris is a 400" ..it makes my buddy(other driver)and I go home chuckling about it quite often.
Rick Ritter knows his way around a 400L engine, and he will tailor it to YOUR specific needs.

hot seat RACE mods kit sucks comparing to HPD whole race kit,i tried all hot seat stuff in the past, they offer really good suspension and chassis upgrades but beg to differ with their engines mods,it is unreliable and HP gains are not impressive, meanwhile they offer a very good trail pipe as the gen 2.HPD simply have the edge in power and response with ligheted flywheel, timing mods, pipe and porting.
15.5 billet head is an amazing thing on those 400 scrammy, wich hot seat doesn't have.
