Default TMX flatside carb

I have a friend that bought a 03 trailblazer. He already had it ported and bought my HPD pipe and clutch kit from my trailblazer. He does not want to do as much as mine but definately wants a better carb. He wants to put a tmx flatside mikuni carb on it so would anyone know about what jetting I should start with, with just pipe and porting. What size? 34mm, 35mm, 38mm. Dennis kirk has the carbs for around $160. Will this carb bolt right on? If no one knows then who would? Modquad, Talonhawk, Bubba? Anyone!

What ever he does stay away from the 38mm TMX. Its just
too big and he will always be missing with it.
Try the 35. I've got a 35 on mine but its the PWK and it has
a 150 main jet installed.

PWK is made by Keihin and TMX is made by Mikuni.
He should by the carb that the engine builder recommends, this
way if he has a problem with jetting or anything he can call
them and get their advise for their setup on his quad.

Despite what everyone says the 38 tmx is a great carb for the 250 and will give great performance provided its jetted properly! I have absolutely no complaints with mine. I'm running a 220 main jet with a dial a jet in the second to leanest position and the clip on the jet needle is 4 from the top. If I wasnt using a dial a jet I would be running a 250 or 260 main jet during the summer. It gives awesome midrange and top end power along with great throttle response. Everyone says its too big but its a carb that was produced for the 250cc class dirt bikes, check out Mikunis own website. Hope this helps.

I HAD the 38mmTMX on my 99 TB and had nothing but
trouble with it. I can't remember what jetting I had but it never
seemed to run perfect on any given day. One day it would run
good and the next day it wouldn't. Hotseat Performance still
sells the 38mm TMX for the 400's but now sells the 35mm for
the 250's. Thats who I got my 38mm from in the first place and
now they don't even use them on the 250's.
