Default raptor 80 lights

Before you install a front light on your Raptor 80 unit, there's a
few things you need to consider. These items are:

- The factory Strator system must support the wattage of light you use. For my son's Polaris Predator 90 unit, I read somewhere its factory Strator outputs 70 watts at full throttle. Since he usually runs between 1/4-1/2 throttle, I needed a that uses under 50 watts. For us, the customized light set we purchased only came with a 55 watt bulb. I then went down to our local specialized lighting store, and purchased a 35 watt replacement bulb. On my son's Predator 90 unit, I only installed 1 light unit (mounted on the top center of its hood).

- For my son's unit, we purchased an auto clear lens fog light. It's approx 3 1/2" high and 5" wide and made of black plastic. Since its an auto light, its components would handle "average" vibrations and bounces. General utility lights (e.g. made for lawn mowers) may NOT be able to handle large bounces. Being a FOG light, its reflector mirror & lens was designed for a direct narrow beam. Works great for long distance straight rides, but isn't designed very well for trails that contain many dark corners. The next time, I would use an ATV designed light. I read these lights have more spread on their light beam, and less direct forward focus.

- There are many other OEM ATV type lights on the market. For the one
that may be easily modified for your Raptor 80 unit, surf:

Also, check with a few Yamaha Dealers within your area. A few of them may have 3rd party add-on lights and/or new factory lights that they would recommend.

Hope this helps....

Spike.
