My Son's p650 blowing white smoke and crankcase has alot of gasoline in it. He only ran it a short ways then shut down. I remember reading from posts some time ago about the gas leaking into crank case. Would someone please tell me if this has caused some damage and how do we fix the problem. Thank you.

 

u need to turn off the gas when not riding at the fuel valve, the fuel tank heats up and expands causing fuel pressure to build up and go past float needles

 

You can't be sure if it caused damage with gas in the crankcase. Probably not if the ATV was not running hot.

If the oil was mostly gas, it may have been pretty bad. If not, no biggy.

Are you sure it isn't blue smoke? White smoke indicates a blown heat gasket.

For the gas in the crank case:
1. Turn the fuel switch off if it sits overnight anywhere. It also helps to leave the tank full whenever you leave it sitting.
2. If it really becomes an issue, find the tank vent hose and take the check valve off it. Either put a fuel filter on it to keep dirt out or run the vent all the way up to the instrument cluster where the other vent hoses go.

This never happens to a lot of us, I think it may be due to where we store it and how full we leave our tanks.

 

Make sure the enrichener (choke) system is working properly. If there is a lot of gas in the oil, the choke (enrichener valve) is probably sticking open slightly. If you haul the machine on a truck or trailer with the fuel shutoff petcock left turned on you can get gas in the oil, too.
