well, i have never ridden a banshee, but when i ride, i notice a slim number of banshees on the trails, they tend to break down easily, and you sometimes need to do repair and rebuilding on them, i almost always see them in sand hills and dunes, because that is what they excel at. the only difference between the 03 and 04, in my eyes, is newer technology, a few updates, if you want to spend less for it, then go for the 03, because now is the time of year that dealers are trying to unload their old s. I would go for the 04, its a few hundred more, but is normal price for one, but is just a little updated.

I choose an 04 over an 03 about two weeks ago not because of any updates (as far as I know there are none besides color changes) but because of the fact that I wanted somthign brand new out of the crate that no one has test ridden or sit on. Call me picky but my dealer had to dealer swap in order to get a Blue 04 for me. Seems as if everyone has the black LEs.

You can save quite a bit though by getting an 03. The last update I know of was for the 03 model when they got new handlebars and YZ grips.

The only problem with the Banshee and trail riding is the lack of undercarriage protection which can be resolved with the purchase of skid plates and the inexperienced 2-stroke rider will need tog et adjusted to the power delivery. There is no "putting around" you have to keep these things revved if you can handle that then the Banshee is the machine for you.

z400nate, You say banshee's tend to break down all the easily? The only time i've seen a 'shee remotely break down was from irresponsible owners running the wrong premix, not adjusting the chain etc. You don't even own a banshee, so don't chime in with ill-informed post. The banshee haven't changed since 89' went they changed from j-arms to a-arms. Shave the head or add a cool head, a set of fmf gnarlys, some skids and a 13t front sprocket, and you'll shee will be a woods warrior.

Saw a fella on a nice looking shee riding Five Mile Pass here in Utah just a week and a half ago.

I'd dare say their as good a trail machine as you make it.
