Default K&N filter cleaning

What is the best way to clean a K&N air fiilter. I have never done this before and am curious how.

Thanks

ive heard of people useing other stuff, but many of those people now own a NEW k&n, if you dont want to buy the cleaner just use mild soapy water, rinse it, and let it completly dry that wont hurt it, but wont get as clean as the stuff your sopposed to use.

I use hot water with joy and soak it for about 20 min then shake out all the excess water after rinsing with Hot water. I let dry over night on a towel and when its fully dry I spray it with one coat of the K&N oil and never had a filter go bad yet. Going on 2 years now.

buy the cleaner and oil for $9.99

remove your air filter and spray on the cleaner, and rinse from the inside out....let it set for 10-15minutes and then apply the oil in the divets....let it sit for another 10-15 minutes and then apply any extra oil to white spots on the filter, reinstall the filter and you are done.

takes about 35 minutes to do on my raptor.

One more thing, if you dont have one get a Outerwear Pre-Filter that fits over the K&N, keeps 99% of the dirt off your filter and it last 3 times longer.
