Default Test rode X, is valve train noise normal?

Rode the X up and down parking lot a few times and WOW it rips. My total Quad experience amounts to a couple hours on a rental ride aboard a 400 Kodiak auto tranny. That thing was a pig in the acceleration dept. I rode dirt bikes way back (28 years) and after that Kodiak ride I was skeptical of all quads acceleration abilities. Well the X took care of that, skepticism GONE. It just seemed a little noisy at idle like valve train noise is this normal ? Thanks I think I'm gonna get it, $6500+sales tax sound decent?

the rotax seems bullet proof so it must be normal noise, you could always ask to hear another one run so you could compare.

Thier shouldnt be any valve train noise. The Rotax engine uses dual overhead cams so that they could get away from sloppy valve trains. They quad is probably good, but it sounds like it needs the valves clearances checked. I woulndnt buy it unless the dealer did a valve clearance check. I have never heard a DS yet that had a noisy motor.

Bigger.

Okay, I gotta add that I can't remember if I was in neutral or slow in first gear. The sound was a little like the straight cut gear whine on a Winston Cup car putting around under caution. Sorry I'm so **** but $6500+tax is a LOT for me to spend on a luxury and I don't want to screw it up.

I just bought one. I have been shopping around and $6250+tax is a pretty common bottom line. Three guys were at that and one was at $6499. Just letting you know you might have some more wiggle room.
