Default 720 Kits will it make it easier to wheelie?

I'm getting mine done by Gary at TVI. It will be a while before I get it however, and even when I do I have A HEAPLOAD of work to do on it. However one thing I always wanted my DS to do was wheelie on demand. I'm hoping the 720 will have enough bottom end to lift the front tires at will, similar to a 400 EX or Raptor. Am I hoping for too much? I could get my DS front tires off the ground from a roll (not much) but never from a dead stop. I'm not a large frame guy and I always tend to sit near the gas tank instead of the end of the seat.

I'm getting porting, a set of all around cams ( I forget which ones he told me I was getting, I told him I don't want to lose any bottom cause we don't only drag race here in NJ), the big bore of course and a Lectron 44mm carb. I miss my DS.. dying to have it back already.

mine will wheelie with a 4" extended swingarm. but i can wheelie a stock machine not problem also. it took the right gearing i think that is when i started to have a lighter front end. i think if you practice enough it gets easier, i have a 400ex and i can wheelie it but i'm better on the ds.

bigslim78,

How do you like that trinity pipe? I want to get one to replace my Big Gun. I hear it produces more torque. That is what I want... I like to drag race but not a whole lot of areas in NJ you hit 5th gear. If you do hit it, it's not for long. I ride MX and Wide Open Spaces.. for tight stuff and trying to wheelie I use my Raptor.

I have a stock DS with just a modified endcap and jet kit with a 15 tooth front sprocket and it will wheelie all day long.

Wheelie Clip Check out my site for more.

I rode a high-comp/cam 416ex today, I like it... I was fully erect the whole time(yep), couldn't even keep it down... It was a blast... Anyone can jump on one and wheelie like a pro... But i found it to have no power at all compared to my DS... It just had no torque and needed to be revved up high to make power... And it wasn't comfy and felt very small..

A 400EX is somewhat of a rag doll, compared to a DS. Before I'd bought my first DS I sat on (never rode) several 400EXs. They were cool since they were quads and I'm sure they will out perform the Mojave I had at the time, but it wasn't until the DS hit the market that I saw a machine that was exactly what I wanted. The Raptor feels pretty small as well, however I'm sure it gets better when you add a longer swingarm, wider A-Arms, and a wider axle. However I don't know that I could ever get used to such a small seat - it reminds me of a road race bicycle seat; you know those REALLY thin tiny lightweight ones - the ones that look like you'ed have to be careful how you sit on it or it might get stuck somewhere private.
