Default Raptor rear end grinding??

What could cause the rear end of my 2001 Raptor to grind. It is intermittent and when it starts to grind the rear wheels start to lock up. It has nothing to do with the brakes or sprocket/chain area. What kind of gears, bearings, etc are inside of the axle area of the swing arm that would cause this? Approx how much money and time am I looking at to fix it?

Thanks,

Brad

Jack up the rear and see if you can wigle the axle around. If you can your bearings are probably shoot. It's about 30 to 35 bucks for the bearings and seals.

It sounds like axel bearrings. The longer you wait the more it is going to cost you. Bearrings are probably about $50, but if you keep riding it will eat the carrier which cost alot more than that.

If you are only having a clunking when the wheels are off the ground it can just be that the tires are spinning faster than the engine and catching. It happened to me and i thought the chain was skipping off or that the tranny was shot but its just like having a car in a higher gear at a slow speed.

I'd say time for new back bears , masically in your bearing carrier where your axel is held into your swing-arm.
