The header pipe blew a hole in itself. I thought it was just the coating pealing off but when I started the motor I could feel air blowing out of the crack near where the two pipes join into one pipe.

Well, the header pipes & muffler are off and ready to go back to Ron for the second time. It's also another 2 weeks of down time, maybe more since I had the header pipe welded with the oxygen sensor boss.

you can at least put the stock pipe back on the machine so you can ride it, correct? I hope Ron decides to do something nice for you with all the trouble you've been having with that darn kit. I'll at least thank you for being so honest with all of us interested people giving us ALOT of insight into the DS650. You also seem to know quite a bit about how to fine tune engines.. glad we're listening to someone who knows what they're doing.

My thoughts exactly. Thanks for all the help Scoob.

I don't think I would be so patient with all the problems that you have had. I certainly would have demanded my money back and ordered another pipe like the Big Gun. I may have ordered the Big Gun and just sent the old pipe back to Ron with my opinion of his customer service and his products. Maybe after using it for a little target practice, at least I would get some fun out of it. Though, that may give Ron the wrong impression and I would have the police knocking on my door...

Oh well, good luck and I hope you get it all worked out ASAP and that you get a chance to enjoy your DS.

Laters,
CRT_Leech

FYI Scooby go to the mikuni.com web site and on the opening page at the top it says Harley info, this takes you to the 45mm carb info sheets they have, im not sure if it is any different than what you already know, but it may help.

chrism101, Thanks for the info. The manuals on the mikuni site appear to be more recent than the info I have and it also has some info I hadn't seen before.

BlackHawk, Yeah, I put the stock pipe back on tonight so I can ride. I noticed that the stock header pipe has thicker steel than the Ron Wood pipe, which is probably the cause of the problem. Either that or the coating was done incorrectly adding temperature stress to the pipe.

I have had to learn a lot about carbs since I got this kit! My posts have been focused on problems rather than the positives. The kit does have some decent power gain, if you can get it setup correctly. Reliability, price, support, etc is not so great.

Are you serious??!!??!! It has been a month. I would demand your money back you should not have to wait this long. They should have sent you a new pipe ASAP!!
