Default Same Old Question

Alright, here we go... I'm looking for my first quad after many years of dirt biking, off road trucks, etc. I have ridden several quads in the mid level class and recently spent about 120 miles on a Kaw P650 on the Hatfield McCoy Trail (that got me hooked). After riding the P650, I know that I will only be happy with a larger displacement quad with good suspension. I plan on riding mostly wooded trials with lots of mud and rock and very steep. Top speed isn't a big concern, but torque is. However, I ride pretty aggressively (no I don't want a 2 wheel drive). I really won't be doing much towing or heavy hauling, mostly play. My choices are down to a Kaw P650, Honda Rincon, Yamaha Griz 660, or maybe a SP600/700. Help me out. Thanks

All your choice's are excellant for what you'd be doing. Any one of those quads will do the thinks you want and more. Find one new and cheap with the best warrenty and go for it

I just went through the same thing and finished buying Grizzly 660. Rincon is very nice, but I could not get it cheaper than $7K new and it felt little low on horse power with its OHV 2 valve engine with 3 speed automatic. Kawasaki was very close to Grizzly, but solid rear axle on top of few problem reports with the engine got me shaky. Polaris and Bombardier I was afraid to touch, mostly because I do not know much about them, besides the fact that there is something always wrong with Polaris.
Try to get end of the year 2003 model for around $6K.

i suggest going with the grizz, yamaha is a reliable and dependant company, and it is a great quad for a good price. Try finding a dealer trying to get rid of the 03 for cheap.

Polairs makes a good bike now. you could also consider the artic cat 650...same engine as the Prarie...not sure if it has irs though...all I can say is test ride them all and make sure you can get an actuall ride in not just around the parking lot

All of the quads you are looking at are great. Dont rule out that new AC 650, that this has IRS and over 13 inches of ground clearence. You can get a DVD for them at your local Yamaha dealership as i believe Yamaha Sells AC... thats where i got the DVD that i have. They have so many options for hunting and everything else that it should give some of the other manufactuerers a kick in the a$$ to get some nice stuff out. I personally went for the grizzly. I got it just this tuesday (blue) Ive only put about 30 miles on it so far, but man does that thing climb, mud, and haul a$$. I looked at the prairies and test drove them, but with no IRS and only like 7.5 inches of ground clearence... it just didnt do it for me. If all i wanted to do was go fast, i'd have gotton a raptor or a scrabler or something of the the sort. Check them all out and get the one that you like the best. I liked the grizz. (DONT GET AN 03) def. spend a few dollars more and get an 2004. They have all the quirks worked out. The 03's had some major problems with Vapor lock, and boiling gas. I got my 04 grizz for 6299.00 and a winch for 69 more, at Phibbs Power Sports in colonie NY.

Later.
