Inverted Raptor Front Shocks from Dealer?
#1
Hi all, We recently found this BB and think it's great. Here goes, We just purchased 3 2004 Yamaha's from a dealer in Oregon. Blaster, Warrior and Raptor LE, while out riding for the first time at a local sand dune, my brother in law asked why the front shocks on my Raptor were upside down. The front shocks on his Raptor have the adjustments on the bottom of the shocks, mine are on the top. I had no idea. He took a ride on it and said it felt much squishy-er than his did. I mentioned I had felt the front end bottom out, HARD while riding it. 2 other riders approached and also mentioned my shocks were upsidedown. The questions I have are these: Have the front shocks been damaged by being installed upside down? Can I get the dealer to replace them? What if I would have been injured while riding on these shocks? Who installs the shocks at a dealership. I am going to take all 3 in this week to have them checked out and any information I have will help.

If they assembled the quads and put the shocks in upside down..i'd be VERY worried about what else they've done wrong that you havent found yet!
take them back asap and get some answers...

I was at one of our local Honda / Yamaha dealers and guess what I saw?! A new 2003 Banshee with one front shock on correctly and the other shock upside down. I told the parts person, whom I have dealt with many times, and she said "Are you kidding me?!" I told her that I wasn't and she said they would have to pull it out of the showroom and correct it.
I went in their again last week and it is the same way as it was 3 weeks ago. I asked her about it again and she said they had not had time to fix it. So then I told her their white / red 2004 Raptor had both front shocks upside down. She couldn't believe it, but I thought it was hilarious.
I guess that is what they get for not providing proper training to these young & most likely underpaid teenage mechanics.
