Hi Shotgun. Awesome Quad you Got!!
(1). I was wondering what gram weights work best with the EPI pink spring and (2) Thinking of modifying my clutch cover as per your picture and wanted to know if after drilling the holes what weights would you recommend?
I do a lot of trail riding and the red spring has given me white knuckles in off-canter situations

Paragould AR!! Use to visit & drag my bike at the drag strip there back in the 80s when Blytheville AFB was open...time flys.
Do you still run stock weights (60 gram). If not what size & any other mods you had to do after drilling the clutch cover?

I've ditched the red spring in favor of a Dalton blue (equivelent of EPI pink). I tried the EPI 56g weights with poor results. The shape and weight distribution of the fly weights has as much to do with the performance as does the actual weight. A 60g EPI weight will work NOTHING like the stock 60g weights.

I was at ALLtoys shop over the weekend and we had my EPI pink and the dalton blue on the table. We both agreed that the Dalton is stiffer after about 2". I will be testing both next week after he re-machines my clutch and I will let you know

The spring will control your engagement. Although I don't use a pink spring, I have heard good things about them, along with the dalton.
Any weight will work with the spring, but what your looking for is a weight that will allow you to get to the 6500 - 6700 rpm range with the mods and spring you have. With that rpm, you'll be in your peak HP and your clutch should be maxed out.
General rule of thumb is heavier weights lower rpm. lighter weight raise rpm's, but not in every case. If a weight is lighter than stock, but heavier towards the end, it might lower rpm.s.
A person really needs a tach for tuning. Call someone that sells kits, they should be able to guide you, just remember they're trying to sell, and their kit works well on their machine, but it might not have had the same mods as yours.
I recommend that anyone that is serious about tuning, get adjustable weights, but keep in mind that weights won't give you more top speed, unless your RPM's are way low, but they might make you several bike lenghts quicker.
Good luck,
