Default best suspension (axis, Works or Elka)

I'm looking to upgrade the suspension on my Raptor. I love to hit big jumps and do alot of hardcore trail riding. What are your opinions and/or expieriences with Axis, Works and Elka. Which company makes a better product.

thanks....

i know that all 3 companies have awesome shocks. i don't use ne of them (way too expensive) but personally i would go with the works triple rate with remote rezzies. i haven't really looked at teh other shocks.

This question is not ever going to be answered. Sure you will get replies but its all opinion and heresay.

I tried this in the past on another forum and all I got was ticked off because there wasnt any solid info to base a decision on.

All the products mentioned are fine and will do what your asking them to do but the main difference is more in the actuall set up and fine tuning than the actuall shocks themselves.

Or in other words I would rather have a set of works steelers that were valved and sprung perfectly for my machine, weight and riding style than an improperly set up pair of axis.

In the end I went with Elka based upon the quality of the product, the set up, the proven quality and at the time the excelent price advantage. (before anyone get on about works steelers, I wasnt comparing them but the pro series because that is works "top end" compareable shock)

no matter which you decide if you have them valved and set up right from the mfg and know how to fine tune them and set your ride heights etc you will be very happy as all will out perform the stock pogo sticks many times over.

I have Works on both the 400's, and really like them. I can land a huge jump and it is like landing in pillows!! They ar completely rebuildable, and you can change springs or valving any time.

Cro-Works will work over the rear for you. Don't think they will mess with the fronts.

I don't believe the fronts are rebuildable but the rear is. I know a great place that is local that will hook you up for a good price and you wont be able to tell the difference between your stock shock and a high quality new one. PM me if you're interested and I'll give you the contact info.......

The front shocks are deff not rebuildable and are the weakest link in the suspension. Find a used set of works for under $200.00 and if the rider who had them set up orig was close in weight you would be looking at around 150.00 to get them rebuilt (maybe more or less depends on where) and you would have about the best your gonna find without spending the 600+ that the higher end stuff goes for.

You can even call around to the smaller dealers and see if they took any on trade and work out a deal where they rebuild them for you, and you should save some more $$$ that way also.

JMHO but suspension was the most important and best overall mod I did and I am so spoiled with the better performance now I dont look forward to riding a stock suspended machine.

Good luck
