I just purchased my YFZ yesterday. I had been struggling with the same ??'s I finally came to the conclusion that I would give up reverse which I might use 1 percent of the time in exchange for awesome handling and acceleration for the other 99 percent. If you ride with people that ride trails at a snails pace then it might really suck. Your YFZ will not like going slow. After this weekend I should have some more input.
Good luck in your choice.

so you like ur yzf so far and does it do wheelies? and thanks for your input i like to go as fast as i can through trails i am very aggresive rider through trails i want something i can throw around at high speeds.

It doesn't wheelie as easy as the raptor. You can do some awesome high speed wheelies though. I did one last night that was completely unintentional, I just about freaked out. It's so well balanced my uncle can ride it forever on its side. It should be great for aggressive trail riding.

I haven't had any extended time on a raptor but the yfz is great for high speed trail riding. Its also good at low speeds to but the thing seems to get hot quickly if u dont keep air moving across the radiator. Also the fly wheel seems to be light when I first got mine i stalled it out quite often but once I learned where the staling point was I had no further problems. As far as wheelys go I can ride a balanced wheely for as long as there is level ground. I have had many quads in my time and this one is just a blast to ride great fun. U mentioned racing also if your looking at getting in to orginized racing U must consider that u will have to run the raptor in the open class. Witch at the tracks I race at the open class takes ALOT more money to be competive.

For fast trail riding and racing don't even consider the raptor over the y. As far as my payments and everything, I just used a convenience check from a credit card company. They had offered a 4.9 percent fixed rate for as long as I wanted it. So that was pretty cool. Just call your credit card company and talk to them about it.

yah i would go with the yfz it just handles so much better in stock trim then a raptor and it already very competitive with many other machines if you do a 3 dollar jetting change and no baffle or lid. where as if you want to do mx with the raptor you'r going to have to spend lots of money trying to fix the handling and its still not going to be as good as the yfz. just my 2 cents good luck with your decision

Dad has a raptor and I have a YFZ and I can tell you that there is really no comparison between the two, the raptor is fun but really doesnt' hold a candle to the YFZ. But opinons are like a**holes, so you should buy what you want'.
