Default Im truely discusted with CA, runaround right now... GLAMIS STICKER!!

Im truely sick from the run around ive been getting today!! heres the story... thinking about making a trip to Glamis.. ive read the sites and CA being the dictatorship that it is wants me to have an ORV sticker even though my state..TX.. doesnt even have an ORV program...ie no sticker! so CA wants me to have one... anyway the sites all list the CA Off highway Vehicle dep. as point of contact.. so i call them, they said call this number, who i call and it is a dealer in northern CA, who says he wont mail me one, he gives me another number with no answer.. i call CA OHV back they give me www.americansandassociation.org.. say i can apply for sticker online.. that site has no application that i can find! This is soo BS! I think i may just go to the oregon dunes instead cause maybe im just to much of a Republican to understand the way CA works!!!!

you guys have any advice for me? can anyone mail me one of those FU*#In stickers?

Dang man, that sucks. Im glad we dont have to worry bout that here (Tx also) but when/if you finally figure it out let us all know, I would hate to be in this situation later on and be stuck because of some dumb *** sticker. By the way what does the sticker mean??

I'll see if I can dig up where you can buy a non resident sticker. It's like $10 bucks. I'm a rep. too and our state is very messed up! Be ready to shell out $25.00 for the weekend too, fees just went up from $10 per year. My annual went up from $30 to $90 and I aint happy. That may not sound like much to some but I've been going to the desert since '77 and up till a couple of years ago it was free!. Hell my gramps was one of the first to ever go to Glamis in 1955 (still has a buggy, still goes) and he can't believe it either.
Anyway, I'll see what i can dig up.

The sticker means that Cali. will get more money, we have our registration stickers and you have to get one or a non resident sticker. I'll try to track them down. Try these guys.
Cycle Parts West 619-284-7617. I think they have them.

Here is the deal,

Being a non-california resident, you need a NON Resident "Green Sticker" OHV Permit issued by California Department of Parks and Recreation. (I just read this directly out of a pamphlet I got when I went to Dumont Sand Dunes last year on Thanksgiving.)

Knowing that is half the battle. The other half is that most people never bother getting the non-resident sticker, and I've only been checked once in all of my trips riding anywhere in CA. I'm sure if you need to we can find a way to get you in touch with the right people so you wont get a citation if someone did check.

The American Sand Association has nothing at all even the slightest to do with registration - whoever directed you to them had no clue what they were telling you. The ASA is a non-profit organization who is fighting to keep Glamis open. Anyone who likes Glamis and wants to go back should join the ASA so they'll have that much more push when they fight to keep the place open. Along with The Blue Ribbon Coalition etc.

I'm personally a member of the ASA, CORVA and BRC. I don't have the time to go help fight all of the battles, but at least I can keep their membership up and donate a little here and there.

Lason, The sticker means you are (in theory) helping to support the program to maintain the riding areas etc. we have here in CA. The way I understand it, most states don't really have just a few set aside places to go ride, it appears most people can ride -nearly- where ever. In CA, we can pretty much ONLY ride in designated areas.

If you have your reg. papers you will be fine. Most people from Arizona just flash there plate and the ranger walks away. I have never seen or heard of anyone from out of state having a problem if they can prove they are from out of state. If you are like me and ride a Bombardier Demo bike with no reg. you stay busy dodging rangers! LOL

That's Dez's excuse for being a troublemaker! LOL. You can usually not be bothered if you watch your tail and don't be an idiot.

to 100% avoind the ranger isn't hard do these things while at Glamis: Ride - it's a big enough place unless you're attracting attention, or you go where you know rangers are you wont even see them, let along interact with them. (Be the good camper and your chances are that much less as well.) When you leave, don't leave on the same 'normal' day as everyone else. Leave on a monday or some day when no one cares.
