I'm just wondering, I just bought an 03' kodiak and i want to see if anyone has had trouble with the trans or know anyone who has. I hope they don't go out easy!

 

i'm on this site and several other atv sites and i have NEVER seen a complaint on a kodiak transmission other than getting the belt wet if you ride in deep water, which is easily fixed.

 

Im with 660. I researched them extensively before I bought one. No tranny issues.

 

vampirerider-does your kodiak have a rattle when you hit bumps at low rpms (any speed)??

Mine does and i've heard that everyone else's does too. I want to fix thins if i can!

 

Rincon, mine is a used 2000 model, but I have never heard any kind of noise unless I jump it pretty hard. I will say the engine on mine causes quite a bit of vibration, but I have no very noticable rattles. I'll be listning much more closely now though. Ill post if i find anything.

That's what i mean, but there is no way that it should be doing it as bad as mine does, it drives the sh:t out of me!!! One guy (can't remember his name) said that i need to shim something in the tranny (one of the clutches.) another said it's the slack in the engine breaking. I had one guy say that he bought his new and it did it right from day one! alls i know is it has got to go!!!!!!!

 

I did think that the vibration was kind of annoying but I just ignore it since nothing tears up. There is some guy on this forum that has 30 + kodiaks. Maybe he could shed some light....

 

Have you heard of a problem with the front end? The one I'm looking at is making some grinding noise from the front?

 

That clicking noise at low speeds is there on mine as well. I don't know exactly what it is but its been there since I got the atv. Judging from the others this seems normal.
