sick of pouring money in banshee, want Baja X, need opinions
#1
Just wondering if the Baja X is worth the extra money over the Baja or even the plain DS. I don't have a bottomless wallet so the banshee has to go. I've driven an '04 DS and I liked it a lot but I like the extra stuff the Baja X comes with. Thanks for your opinions.

I have been the proud owner of the DS650 Baja X for about a month now..........I had a 2000 ds650 and I would say spend the little extra and get the Baja X......It's bad ***

I would like to get a second DS and when/if I get one it will be another '02 BAJA.
I don't think I would like the new shorter/narrower version.
I love the lights and tach of the Baja, don't like nerfs, and all the skids are not necessary with my 22/23" XCTs.
I even like the looks of the 02 Baja better than the X.

It probably depends on what you want to use it for. If you are racing and need nerf bars then the X is ready to go. You you race in the desert or dune, then maybe the Baja is enough. If you trail ride and don't need the extra lights (you mostly ride in the daytime) then a regular DS would be best.
I'm making the same switch. The 370Long-Rod is for sale. I bought a used DS to see how I liked it. For $4700 it's a great quad.

I guess I should have posted where I ride. It will be a trail/fireroad driven machine mostly. Some of the trails will be somewhat rocky, that's why I like the skids on the X because I don't want to ruin a-arms and such. The extra lighting would be nice for those night rides through the woods. I will also be playing in the several gravel pits that grace my area. I have it narrowed down to the standard Baja and the X, its either one of those. Is the X with the skids, nerfs, and better front shocks worth the money?

If I was in the market for a new DS, I'd go with the X. It's a great value and you'll probably end up putting all those extra goodies on eventually anyway. Buy the X and never look back...you'll be glad you did!

BIG_RED,
To answer your question directly - yes, I d believe the Baja X package will be a good value and worth the extra money. I have a 2001 and a 2003 Baja DS, and they are both awesome. I believe that if you buy the X, as opposed to buying those products seperatly, you'll end up saving money & time, which seems to be your overall goal.

Blackhawk said it best.... It's worth all the extra's you get with the X.
I just got the X a couple of weeks ago. So far I've been riding the dunes and on fireroad's/ trials. I really like doing both but there is something about racing down trails and logging roads that gets me. I was in the same delima as you. I like all the extra's but is it worth it. Well to me it was....I like to ride at night, the skid plates help protect while the HPG shocks are nice they're probably not that big of a difference in ride. But the jury is still out on that one!
