Default polaris 700 sputtering

I have an 03 700 with around 400 miles and have noticed a sputter when slowing down then getting back on the gas, almost as if it has lost all power. also when driving around 7 mph at a steady speed it can't hold the rpms, they are constantly down and up. Anybody had this problem?? any ideas to what is wrong?? thanx

First guess would be dirt in the carb. Take a look at everything though - air filter, vent lines on the carb and tank, spark plugs... etc.

I have read alot of post on this in several diff sites. It appears that the carb vent lines suck up small trash. Most have installed small gas filters ( make sure the arrow is pointing in the right direction) I have installed them on all of my quads and all the vent lines were dirty

Was out checking it out and noticed that the bolts and were missing from the rubber pieces that attatch the carb to the frame. One of the rubbers was even broke in half and the other was splitting. Wonder if this had anything to do with the sputttering becuase the carb was rattling around like crazy.

Yeah, I would say that was the problem.

You can replace those rubber grommet carb bracket mounts with a double stud type rubber isolator, that is one upgrade every 03 model needs. Your dealer should give you some since this has been a common problem on most all 03 model 700s. I didn't realize mine were pulled out of the frame until I heard the carb bracket rattling against the frame, but it was still running okay. You also need a filter on the clear carb vent line if it doesn't have one. Many 03 600s and 700s came from the factory without a filter.
