Leaking Belt Cover on P650

Leaking Belt Cover on P650
The belt got wet after crossings streams on 2 occasions. Removed cover and discovered that the o-ring is deformed and not sealing correctly. Replacement is on order. Does the o-ring seal adequately by itself or are you guys helping it with silicone or RTV?
