Does anyone have a Service manual for the Rancher?

The Honda dealer said he could order one, but didn't know when it would come in! I am sure they are worth the money.

Honda sent me a postcard saying they were now available. My dealer didn't have any as of 5/30/00 but they could order me one. The price is $60. Thought that wase quite high. Calculis and Economic text book in college weren't that much. But I will probably cough up the money sooner or later.

Just ordered online at: www.helminc.com $40+shipping

The card said I could buy it on the net also. Do not rember the link, sure you can get to it from the Honda site.

I bought both the Recon and Rancher manuals from Beaverton Honda-Yamaha for around $93. They said it'd be 10 working days and it was.

Is the manual real descriptive on how to tune up and fix problems with the bike? I am still trying to determine if I want to buy the service contract on the Rancher or not. If the manual is descriptive then this will help me with my decision...

cunderwood--

Yup, and it's all photographs not drawings. They're published by Helm if I remember (don't have them here at hand)--they remind me of the old high quality Toyota manuals, before they went to pen and ink for illustration. In addition to general maintenance procedures, there's comprehensive tear-down & rebuild info on engine/trans/axles/chassis/electrical, etc.
Maybe it's just me, but I prefer to screw up my own stuff rather than let a dealer do it--eliminates a lot of variables.

I agree! I do appreciate the information! I think that this has made my decision a lot easier. If you could provide me with the actual name of the manual and the part number or whatever they are entered by I would appreciate it! This will insure that I get the correct one.

Chris--

Will do--I'll bring them tomorrow and give you all the stuff. (Got disgusted with AOL so don't have the net at home.)

I found the manual for sale at www.helminc.com. I believe the part number for the Rancher is 61HN400. I didn't right down the price, but it was between $40-$48 range.

#61HN400 is right, #61HM802 for a Recon , and I forgot that the no's are in the owner's manuals.
