400ex stock shocks

The last post was assuming you were talking about the front shocks. If it's the rear it's very similar, instead of the adjuster being on the bottom it's on the top. The rear has like a little lock nut that you have to loosen first.

Thanks for the quick response. I just got my ex used a couple weeks ago, and dont have an owner's manual YET. It's on my list. I was talking about the front, but thanks for the info on the back too. I talked to my neighbor, and he said it was as stiff as it could go. Well I'm gonna go play I'll tell you how it goes.

alright anothere quick question, do I have to take the shock off or loosten the bottom of it to move the thing. What kinda tools you think I should use? And what notch do you think I should put it on for jumping, I dont want it to be too soft or too firm. 2 from softest?

If you don't have the shock tool you can use a pair of large pliers. As far as what notch to put it on is up to you. Start at the stiffest point and work your way down until you find the notch that you like. DirtDiggler has a good point. It also depends on how big you are.
For rough trail riding and woops the stiffer the better.
