well i got a price on a 650 for 6150 and the best i could get for a 450 yamaha was 6199 so i was wondering what do u think i should do. does the 650 hold up good and plus will 27 in 589 take away power or should i just get the 26in 589,thanks

 

The 650 will loose a little power with 27" tires,but it will still ride wheelies.Have you looked at a V-force?I got my V-force for $5995+tax and every time I ride it Im so glad I bought it!!!!!!!!!!The Praire 650 is a nice atv also very quick for a 4x4.[img]i/expressions/face-icon-small-happy.gif[/img]

 

well i dont want to lose to much power because i do alot of trail rideing to and mudding, alot of both so i just dont want to put to much ware on the engine, plus i want to keep the snap of the engine,

 

I had 27" 589s on my P650 for two rides. I can tell you now they will hurt your power. They hurt mine so bad I took them off and went back to stockers. I know run 25" ATRS on C-Series wheels. I will not run another 27" tire again. That size takes all the fun out of riding for me.

If you have your mind set on a 27" tire you need to take a serious look at the Mudbug. That is what I had on my Kodiak for 3 years. The 27x10 weighed 22lbs and the 27x12 weighed 28lbs. This is tire weight only.

 

well i geuss i should stick with a 26 inch tire i didnt think 589 has to heavy but we will see i geuss i could get the 25in but up there at the dealer that some 28in on a 650 it look good and had tons of groundclearance

 

talk about comparing apples and boomerangs............ do you mean the yfz450 or a kodiak? just curious.

the yfz and prairie are totally different machine for totalling different kinds of riding. the prairie is much more versitale.

I would recommend sticking with stock sizes tire unless you abolutley have to have the extra inch of ground clearance. the performance lose with bigger tires is to much for me.

I had a 2000 Kodiak. Nice little machine. I had it from 12-30-1999 untill 8-2003. It never broke on me and was never in the shop for anything except first service. I kept in a year round camp and it was the guest machine when I was not there. Everything from Women to children used it. It was ran hard and put up wet constantly.
Positives; Tight turning radius. Parking Gear. Not too bad on off camber hill riding but not as good as the Prairie. Super Tough belt system. I yanked on and pulled logs, clearing trails and blowdowns, aerators, yard rollers, you name it. Never a belt noise or problem. Engine braking is almost too much.
Negatives; The limited slip front end should be called Un-limited Slipping. It will let go with a wheel in wet sand. This was my main reason for shopping for another. I have 3 Kodiak owner friends that agree about the front diff. It is a loud unit. The same or louder than the Prairie. Small seat doesn't haul 2 well.

The Prairie? A real Hawse in comparison. Much more stable on off camber hill riding. A Locking front diff. The belt according to what is posted on this forum can be an issue if overlooked. With the Kodiak you could forget about it and ride in Hi range constantly without stressing or wearing out the belt pre-maturely. If you rode the Kodiak in Low for long it would drive you nuts. The Prairie is a pleasure from 0 to 20mph bursts. The seat is nice for put-putting around with a second rider. The Kodiak was not. Some say the Prairie's seat is too firm but it is perfect for me. I felt the Kodak's was too plush.
Even though I could have traded for another Kodiak with a locker I went to the Prairie with no regrets.

I put 27" Dirt Devils on my P650. It does slow it down, and is less stable. I noted that at about 50 mph it begin to "dance" ......... doesn't do that with the stock tires. I sold the 650 .... thinking about buying a 700 .... If I do, I will likely stay with the stock size ... and for sure, not larger than 26".

 

Go with the p650 more ccs.
