On my picture page you'll see my 2 sons who are both about 75 pounds. They fit real well on their Blasters. You can find nice used ones for 2 grand that already have some aftermarket parts on them. My boys have ridden out of the cradle and the older one handles my Raptor and LT250R very well also, but again he is very experienced. For a new rider a Blaster is really hard to beat--they are lightweight, make good power, and are simple in design & reliable. If you can find a used 2003 you get hydraulic brakes which is a very big plus too.

hey im looking to try to sell my red honda 250ex for a payment on the 450r im trying it get. its in great condition 2001 the price is a little high about 4000 in trying to get for it but it has many extras like itp holeshot tires, full pro armor skid plates, works shocks front and back, new seat cover, fmf mega max II pipe, k&n air filter comes with 3 extra air filters as well as the stock one, it also has the stock swing arm gaurd. it runs good and it goes about 60mph and has great handling on the trails. it is also good to jumping because it is so light. if you want more info about my quad contact me.

I have had my 300ex since 1998 and I have ridin it a lot. I've never touched anythiing to do with the motor other that regular oil changes (Only Synthetic) and filter cleanings. I find it to be a very mean trail quad, I am 19 and I still can scare myslef in the trails with it. I've had it since I was 15 and I've loved every minute of it.
As for Blasters if your son likes to have the finniky two stroke, that will probly have problems with oil injection, so he will adventually mix his gas and the are really small old designed machins. With next to the worst mecanical brake system on any quad. Although it will got faster then my quad. There junk you might as well go get an old TRX250r if your going to put your money on a blaster.
Honestly If your son is bettween the ages of 15 to 19 he can handle a 300ex, if he is a good experienced rider look into a 400ex or 250r

I'm not sure where you are located at but the cheapest place i've seen online is Lakehill motors . If you scroll down and click on yamaha atv's, towards the bottom of the page are the prices for the blaster. Its about $3199 for the '04 brand new. 200 cheaper for the '03. If you are close to them I would suggest Lake Hill. It's in your budget and you still have some room if you want to dump some mods in to that.
