Default brake adjustment help needed.

I have a 97 400 sport. I just changed the front brake pads. The right side seems to be tighter than the left. The tire doesn't move easily. When I test drove it I could see the tire stop when I pulled the wheels up. How do I adjust this. The pads are Polaris pads. Could I have to much fluid in the cup.? Please help.

When you changed the pads did you compress the piston back
into the cylinder? I do not beleave that there is a way to adjust
the front brakes.

Try riding it in reverse and apply the brakes. That will adjust it!

ryankmiller:

I would say that your old pads were very worn ( usually right side wears faster if you do a lot of pave driving and braking) and your brake caliper piston was out from the caliper body a good distance and got very dirty. You put new pads on and you pushed the dirty gummed up piston back into the body. Now when you press the brake lever, the dirty piston sticks to the caliper body. You should just take your calipers apart and clean your pistons up a bit. Hope this helps

On my Sportsman there was a setscrew that seemed to set initial brake pressure on the new pads. If I did this right look a attached diagram if not go to partsland and look up the info for your bike, See scew # 2. I don't know how to attach an imagePartsland
