I just got a new K&N air filter. Are you suppose to oil it or anything like that before you install it??

If so what type of oil do you use and how do you do it?

What will happen if you don't oil it?

no, a K&N is preoiled when you buy it. you dont have to oil it till you clean it

 

He is correct it should come pre oiled, but make sure its oiled because if not the dirt will go directly into your engine=bad.

 

if the element is red, then it is oiled

when you wash it,,,the element will turn white/grey

then red when you re-apply the red oil
