Default Al Unser jr. breaks pelvis in ATV accident

I read in the paper today that Al Unser Jr. drove off of a enbankment on his ATV and broke his pelvis and maybe other injuries. That was in Alburqukue New mexico. I wonder if he had been drinking or if he had a helmet on? He was riding by himself and it was a hour before anyone found him

I also saw on Totaly Nascar the other day where Jamie Mcmurray and girlfriend were riding there polaris's on there property in front of TV cameras with no helmets on. Good role models.

Always check out your riding area before you go all out. I always make a slow pass down the drag strip before i go ***** out just in case a armidallo or some other critter decided to dig a hole the night before. I get tired of reading this stuff in the paper or on TV. I was reading in the suzuki forum where a kid ran into a cable riding 50-60 mph on his z-400 the other day. Accidents will always be a part of this sport but try to make them as few as possible by checking out your ride area.

If he drives a quad like he drives a snowmobile it would not surprise me, I saw some footage of him on a sled a few years back and he was getting jiggy with it for sure......the man probably does not drive anything slow

Its Wierd how they Report our sport but not others. I never see BIKER DIES TODAY BY HITTING TREE... Have any of you? All should wear safety gear. My parents make me wear it even if im going 3 MPH in 1st gear, and ive rolled down the side of a 50 foot Platoue (Spelling) and im alive thanks to Chest Protector and Helmet. My step dad 3 weeks ago flipped and scratched up his face and broke his ankle not wearing safety gear and wasnt even going fast. It makes you think...

Ya, I have a sh*tty story! This guy was riding his motorcycle down a one way gravel driveway that eventually turned into a road onto our property where we have a cable set up with red tags and all. Ok he was driving down this road with no helmet on going really fast and hit our cable going onto our property and it paralized him from the waist down almost killed him but ya he tested as being drunk and being under the influence of pot when he hit the cable.

Him and his family ended up sueing us because the "cable didn't have markers" and because "the cable wasn't exatcally on our property line". So ya we went through all this bullsh*t and they ended up suing our logger too because he was the one that put the cable up.

They got $500,00 dollars from our loggers insurance and well over $800,00 from our family! I think this was complete SH*T and I don't know how something like this can go to there positive!

I just thought I'd share a crappy story that ended up praising someone for being VERY unsafe while working an off-road vehicle and this is what helps bring an end to our riding privilages!

Bigbubba....I hate too hear of that. We clearly have a serious issue when someone impared gets paid for doing something stupid. Sounds like unser Jr was lucky....your pelvic area is riddled with arteries and can hold every bit of blood in one's body.

Happens every day. I saw a group of 4 kids in the 12-16 age range riding at 60+ MPH across a bean field with no helmets or equipment on whatsoever and no parental supervision in sight. All of them were on nice new high powered sport ATVs they were far too young for. How did they get them? You can bet they didn’t walk into the dealer and plunk down thousands for them or fill out loan papers for them. Nope mommy and daddy bought them. You know, the same mommy and daddy who will be filing lawsuits left and right against the ATV manufacturer, dealer, salesman, the owners of the vehicle they hit or land they happen to get killed on. Oh yes, after they “lawyer up” they will appear on TV tearfully accusing all of the above of negligence and producing a product that was dangerous. Oh and make no mistake they will also be the same ones who will be part of the dog and pony show when the trail lawyers and “child safety advocates” will drag before various governmental committees tearfully testifying about the dangers of the evil and inherently dangerous ATV.
