300' dirt drags preparation

I was wondering how much slamming the front end will help ET wise and in keeping the front end down? My mild Raptor wants too wheelie all the way through even with a Tucker +4. Thanks a lot.

Dropping the front end should allow you better starts. The extra angle and added weight on the front of the bike should allow higher rpms on the start thus producing faster et's. Not sure how much of a difference but it should have some advantage.

He is correct. You can also firm up your rear shock too. The harder you make it the more it will spin and not want to wheelie.
But like he said, I don't know how much it will help as far as a # goes.

Lowering the rear suspension is just as important when wanting a good launch! When you dropp the hammer, you dont want the front slammed and the rear jacked up, you WILL get a tetar-totter rappy!(ask Velocitysorry man)lol!
Anyways you want the front slammed ,*** well as the rear(preferably an equal amount so that the wieght transfer is good, BUTTTT if this is a dry/loose track you will want to keep your stock set-up with only the front end strapped down SLIGHTLY, basically a couple inches below stock height. as long as the front shocks are'nt helping your front end to spring up when you let the clutch go, strapping it slightly will help ALOT.

when I slammed mine it made a HUGE difference on launches.......I have never run it on an actual track but I can tell because it doesn't stand up NEAR as easily.......
with stock height set up I would have to feather the clutch on launch so the wheels wouldn't come higher than 2' off of the ground........
but now I can just dump it.............I very seldom have to feather the clutch on launch now......

Gary, try to get the rear swingarm as level with the ground as possible. With the swingarm angled up the natural tendency is to lift the front of the bike. When the swingarm is level the swingarm works differently. It tries to push the back axle end down into the ground instead of lifting the front. Of course you want the front lowered as well. Hope this helps,Bubba

you want the bike to sit about level, even at most a slight down hill rake. Your ET's will pick up a lot, but its impossible to say "you'll pick up x amount of time".

Most every race in the 300' range is won in the first 60'. If you can get your times 2 tenths better in the first 60ft, then you'll most likely pick up 4 tenths in 300ft. that is why "set-up" is just as important(if not more) than HP!

Thanks for the replies gentlemen. I should have mentioned that I have stiffenned the rear suspension some so I can pull out wide open successfully......but 50-75' out the front end starts raising too high. Anyone ever tie the rear end down? I will definately try the front tied down a ltttle. The Raptor sits high anyway. This is a trail bike, so I won't be spending big cash too get better results timed dragging on rare occasion.

yeah actually...my buddy had me sit on my front end and he hooked up a tie-down to both a-arms when i tried racing him. he has a 250r and he get beating me. i was wheeling off the start (this is when i 1st bought the rappy) and it was starting to drive me crazy.
man i spanked him hard after...i could'nt get the raptor to wheely...he was crushed. he never won a race again.
