Do you have the outdoor life channel? They had it on there today at 11:30 am eastern time. I don't know what time your local plays it but you might want to see it. Its a short show on ATVs and they rate the classes fairly. Here is the link ATV TV If you see the shows link you will see this...
Week 43: (July 21, 23, 24) We continue our 500cc 4x4 comparison tests with part 2. This week we test the Suzuki Vinson, the ATV we voted "Best 500cc in 2002"; the Yamaha Kodiak 450, the mid-size ATV from Yamaha with all the features of the open class models - full gauges, switchable 2wd/4wd and a locking front differential; and last up is the Polaris Sportsman 500HO, actually the a 2004 model. It¹s the Sportsman that started this whole automatic 4-wheel drive craze.
You will see the Kodiak in action there. I have a Grizzly and the Kodiak is small for it's class but I hear they rid similar. By the way the 4 wheel drive system is THE BEST in my book.

I was offering my advice to my best. You stated you were going to pay 3000 for it. I don't know many poor people who pull 3 grand and dump it on a quad.

3 grand for an 04 means you cant go wrong. You could even turn a grand on it if you didnt ride it, advertised, and were patient. Matter of fact, thats what I'd do. Then I'd go get myself a used one and save my family the cash. Now, if you can afford to drop 3k for a quad you sure arent poor, but you'd have more money in the bank if you did that. I personally would rather have a 2002 or older Kodiak 400 4x4 than a 2003 or up because the new ones dont have low range and are geared higher. Thats just me though. Anyway you go, you cant go wrong with a new Kodiak for 3k.
