Default Raptor K&N without billet adapter

I just installed a Power Up on my 04' Raptor. I wanted to get the K&N with the Billet adapter but the Power Up box I purchased had a K&N filter without the adapter. To my dismay, the tolerance for the new filter in the air box was very, very tight! You have to get the new filter in the box with the new gasket which is no easy task. Then you have to put the lid back on and align the groove with the tab in the top of the filter. I couldn't believe what an incredible pain the A$$ it was! Granted I'm no mechanic but please!! Anyway, I got everything put back in place but with a bit a frustration and a lot of force I cracked the box and the lid. Has anyone else had this problem or am I just too tempermental?

The K&N that uses the stock way of mounting hardley EVER fits - Very tight, The first couple times I installed one I had to put it in the lid first and pray.

The lids and boxes are cheap to replace. I don't run a box but I just bought a new base to have for winter in case snow gives me fits. Try ebay but a new base cost me $18 at Yamaha and I'm sure a lid is cheaper than that.
