Default KFX 400 or 700

I need some opinions, I'm going to be buying myself a ATV, I have narrowed it down to the KFX 400
or KFX V700. I'm going to be riding trails and some hill climbing, and occasional mudding.. I'm on
heavy side, about 250lbs, and Ive been riding my wife's prairie 300 4x4 and it has plenty of get up
and go for me, its a full auto but I'm wanting to get a sport bike. I cant decide on which of the KFX's
to get, I like using the clutch but the automatic doesnt seem like a bad way to go. Which would be
better for trail riding in the Tennessee, Kentucky area.. Pro's and Cons for each and your experience
with them..

Thanks guys

Im about 210 pounds and ride a V-Force on trails and climb hills with it. Let me tell you this quad was made for trails, that is what Kawasaki intended it to do. THe Kfx 400 is a great quad, but does best on the MX track with a lighter rider. Trust me a big guy just feels at home with the big V-twin.

I am also a bigger guy, I love the 700. My friend has a kfx400 which I have ridden a few times, it is a great atv, but I feel cramped on it. I feel so much more comfortable on the 700. I ride trails and logging roads and dunes. It will easily climb anything I have the nerve to point it at.

The automatic of the 700 would be nice on the trail so you don't have to mess with shifting or a clutch. The 700 is a shaft drive so there is less maintenance and a little more protection on the trails. But the 400 is lighter and sportier if you don't mind a little extra maintenance and a clutch. If I was going to buy a sports quad and I was choosing between these two, I'd get the 400.

I own both. For a guy your size and for the type of riding that you intend to use it for, it is NO CONTEST, go with the 700.

The weigh limit for the Kawazukicat 400 is only around 240lbs(correct me if im wrong) I have heard of some of their frames cracking as well. So for your size I would definately get the V700. MO POWER!!!!

Thanks for the great info guys,,

but how much fuel does the 700 compaired to the 400 use, Ive read a lot. Can you ride
for a good 2+ hrs without filling up again, or are you looking at filling up every hr when
hitting the trails and hills hard.

I've been calling around the local dealers within 2-3 hr drive and the best price I can get on
a new 2004 KFX V700 is $7,329 OTD including taxes, title, and 3 year warranty. Most of them
wouldnt even give me a price over the phone, the few that I got this was the best.

Does this sound like a good price, I don't mind the dealer making money on me, but I don't
want to be taken advantage of either.

Thanks

MSRP is $6,500 and dealers will come down on that. Tell the dealer who quoted you $7k+ to take a hike.
